A friend kindly sent me the photos of James and I at this event in March. We had a wonderful day with the other guests of their Royal Highnesses, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, at this special reception The Prince of Wales hosted at Clarence House to launch his new book, ‘Highgrove: A Garden Celebrated’.
It was a highly enjoyable and successful event, particularly so as an exceptional limited edition of the book will raise funds for ‘The Prince’s Charities’ group. The Prince’s wide range of interests is reflected in these charities: twenty not-for-profit organisations of which he is President. The organisations are active across areas including opportunity and enterprise, education, health and the built and natural environments.
The book is lavishly illustrated with photographs of the gardens and also features images of superb paintings of the garden by the Prince himself. The photographs capture both the light and detail of this magisterial space and this beautiful book will inspire gardeners of every level. It is an exquisite celebration of garden design, passion and inspiration.
We enjoyed discussing the book with Charles and Camilla and talking about the medicinal plants in the famous gardens of Highgrove. We discussed therapeutic fragrances, healing plants, medical applications and my work with the Arthritic UK research (of which The Duchess is Patron) and the NHS as I’m a Patron of the George Elliot Hospital.
A great day and I am sure many people will enjoy the book and that the charities will benefit as a result.
